An Inside View

My Story:

I’m a painter and writer—in no particular order. The drive to pursue these passions began with being a daughter to a mother who encouraged me to traverse the winding path, study the jay bird’s spiraled flight, and seek knowledge in all earth’s hidden corners. She raised me in a land where a sleepy Shell station replaces cardinal directions, and using a splash of coffee in your gravy recipe is second important to the golden rule. I’m unsure where my story will end, but I know my journey will be filled with poetry, paint, and the footprints of the people I love in each work I create.

My Work:

My work is a return to traditionalism—a reverence for discipline, beauty, and ritual. Drawing from East-Asian architectural influences, particularly the use of unpainted wood ("shiraki" 白木) and a deep respect for natural forms, I merge these elements with my Southern heritage. Each piece becomes a relic of what endures, asking the viewer to pause, to honor the Eternal, to listen for the echoes of history. Through contemporary framing, these remnants of the past are given new life—ancient yet alive, timeless yet reborn.
